Christmas Open House
The Coventry Reserve Facility
Coventry was bustling on Friday night and Saturday, the first weekend of December, as the building quickly filled with our old friends, families, and others new to the Christmas Open House experience. The sights, sounds and smells remained festive and the atmosphere cheery even as the checkout lines sometimes grew a bit long. Thank you so much for joining with our staff and volunteers to make this year the very best ever! So many pieces of beautiful Coventry pottery and ornaments will be going out to spread the story behind the gift. Thank you so much. Our participants are honored and embraced by the value placed on their creations and our program is enriched by your generous support. Enjoy the attached photos and catch a glimpse of a few of the activities. We look forward to seeing you all again next year!

Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon
Home of Volunteer Coordinator
Many thanks to Kitty Thrift, Coventry Volunteer Coordinator, for opening her beautiful home and hosting our annual Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon on the Friday before Thanksgiving. This event is given in honor of the volunteers who have served alongside the staff in the program for the current year. The 2011 volunteers came and gave more than 3,500 hours during our two session guiding, supporting and encouraging the Stars to learn and stretch to reach their goals. We are grateful for the gift of their time and blessed by their desire to join the Coventry team in the giving of opportunities for all to enjoy a quality life. Thanks to all who come and enrich our program.

Fall Fest & Chili Cook Off
The Coventry Reserve Facility
What a wonderful gathering and full house of our extended families on Sat. night Oct. 22! God provided beautiful weather for the outdoor/indoor event and the predicted storm held off until our party was over. Fifteen Coventry chefs entered the Chili Cookoff and we all had such fun tasting and judging the delicious entries. The voting with donated cans of food also blessed the Wylie Christian Care Center and they gratefully received the offering to supplement their currently sparse (pre-Thanksgiving collection) shelves. I believe the Coventry families have found another way to connect with and give back to our community. The family scavanger hunt proved to be a favorite outdoor activity and local artist and friend Dave Eden, gave a touching presentation using his autoharp and song and the reading of his new book The Potters Wheel. The finale of the night was with Cindy strumming her guitar and leading singing round the campfire while marshmallows were roasting and s’mores were in the making. Thanks to all who generously and good-naturedly contributed to the success of the evening.

Annual Golf Tournament
Woodbridge Golf Club, Wylie Texas
Coventry’s 4th Annual Golf Tournament held on Friday, October 7th 2011 was a smashing success! Another testimony of what happens when there is a defined purpose coupled with careful and consistent planning and preparation. The tournament committee, headed by Tommy and Toni Pulliam, set a goal to raise $45,000 toward the much needed building expansion. The final numbers came in at just pennies under $46,000, breaking all previous records! The team did a spectacular job of uniting the community in a heartwarming support for Coventry and our program. It was a beautiful day and what camaraderie was evidenced as we enjoyed our skilled auctioneer good naturedly coax the bidders up and up---and still up. A special thanks to all who worked to pull together the sponsorships, auction and goodie bag contents, to the workers who helped the day of and to our generous sponsors and finally to all who came to play and enjoy the fun filled day of sharing and fellowship. The entire Coventry community radiates with appreciation as we feel embraced by the bigger local community.
