Coventry Reserve’s visionary and founder has 39 years’ experience in a personal realm from being the mom of a son with intensive special needs, the result of a devastating bout with meningitis at 13 months old. Professionally, she has worked in interior design private practice, with up to eight staff decorators, as a leader in design, sales and motivation training for a North Texas regional team, building it from 25 to 50 franchise owner, receiving Decorating Den’s Business Owner of the Year in 1984. She was on the team that helped design for the Birmingham House Restoration Project in 90-91 in Wylie, TX and worked on the team created to help inspire business owners and create the vision for the Renovation of Downtown Ballard Street in Wylie, TX. In 2000, Darlene introduced a plan and encouraged local church leaders to support the implementation of a program for special needs children. Her community volunteer involvement includes Wylie Women’s League, Chamber of Commerce; she was on the founding committee of the Wylie Historical Society and was the chairperson for the inaugural Wylie Christmas Home Tour in 1991. Darlene utilized her professional background to design the Coventry facility, creating a space that is beautiful, functional and most importantly, appropriate for learning. The interior of the building allows for reduced distractions and provides a calm and nurturing environment for our participants to flourish.
