What is Coventry?
Coventry was birthed out of the need and desire to provide an appropriate and active lifestyle for adults with special needs after they age out of public school.
In 2002, two moms and a friend began a weekly, half-day program with three participants. The following year, the group grew, organized, appointed a Board of Directors, adopted the name Coventry, and applied for non-profit status. The fledgling program, staffed with volunteers and supported entirely with donations, provided social activities and experimented with producing various products.
Coventry steadily grew in number, and in 2004 relocated from meeting in a home to a local church.
In 2005, the move to our current location on beautiful, country acreage allowed Coventry the space to continue to expand both the program and number of participants served. We have a capable staff that directs the program with the assistance of committed and trained volunteers. Coventry has carefully and consistently added new participants each session for positive and manageable growth allowing our participant/instructor ratio to remain very high.
Our Vision
Our vision is to create a beautiful, Christ centered community where adults with special needs can experience life to the fullest for as long as they live. Our future plans include operating a five day per week program and adding on-site residential homes, gardens, greenhouses, a gift shop and recreation center.
